Hi, I’m Kate.

I’m a UX designer and researcher in Burlington, Ontario. I like roles where I get to investigate a problem properly before helping shape the answer, which is why most of my projects start with research: interviews, diary studies, card sorts, or watching how people move through a library.

I did my Bachelor of Design in UX at Laurier, where my honours thesis was a diary study on gamification and flow. Then I did a Master of Digital Experience Innovation at Waterloo. I graduated from both with Academic Distinction.

Accessibility comes up in almost everything I make, from a fitness app built around seated workouts to a library map with text-to-speech. I’m also curious about AI, AR and VR, and what they’ll mean for how people talk to each other.

Off the clock I’m playing video games, painting or hiking.
